Rosie’s Beef Fried Rice Main courses [serves 4]

This is one of my favourite recipes. A recipe that I have created without the fuss of making chilli paste instead I use chopped fresh chillies. Delicious and fast to cook beef fried rice in just less than 30 minutes! These ingredients are also easy to find in a supermarket. Treat yourself to this delicious Asian dish.

Ingredients For this recipe

  • » 4 portions of cooked rice
  • » 2 medium onions, peeled and roughly chopped
  • » 2 fresh red chillies, cut and roughly chopped
  • » 100 gram long beans, cut into thin small pieces (thin long beans and not the thick kousaband)
  • » 3 cloves of garlic, peeled and roughly chopped
  • » 300 gram beef (beefsteaks or any beef for a few minutes of stir frying)(or runderreepjes in Netherlands)
  • » 3 tablespoons light soya sauce
  • » 1 tablespoon sweet soya sauce
  • » 4 tablespoons sunflower oil
Beef Fried Rice Recipe Ingredients

Cook 2 cups of rice in a pot or rice cooker.

Heat a wok until hot. Add 4 tablespoons of sunflower oil.

Add garlic and stir fry for 30 seconds. On medium heat, add onions and stir fry for another 30 seconds. Then add chillies. Stir fry all the content for another 2-3 minutes until the onions are soft. By now, you can already smell the aroma of garlic, onions and chillies.

Add long beans and stir fry for another 1 minute and add 1 tablespoon of light soya sauce to moisten the beans. Cook beans for another 3 minutes until it is just soft.

Add beef and stir fry for about 3 minutes (stir fry 1 minute shorter than the cooking time of the beef which states on the packet). I use slices of beef which is called "runderreepjes" in the Netherlands.

Add cooked rice and 1 tablespoon of sweet soya sauce and 2 tablespoons of light soya sauce. Taste and if you prefer slightly saltier add more of the light soya sauce. Stir gently and thoroughly mix the whole content for less than a minute.

Ready. Serve while it is hot.

Beef Fried Rice Recipe

Tips: Serve with fried egg, sambal, fresh cucumber acar (see my recipe), fish or prawn crackers (kropoek). If you prefer less spicy, you can also change red chillies to the green ones. Or add more chillies to make it spicy! Best to serve the beef fried rice on the spot as reheating makes the beef chewy.
